The story behind Aksjemøllen

In 1991, Lillehammer Aksjemølle was the only remaining mill building in the district. After 130 years of mill operation, it was overtaken by modern demands for efficiency, and in the summer of 1991 the mill ground for the last time. In 2021, Aksjemøllen became part of Classic Norway Hotels, a hotel chain that consists of some of Norway’s most charming hotels and cabins, where personal hospitality, quality and tailoring contribute to magical moments for our guests. In the same year, the hotel was also completely renovated, and was resurrected as the boutique hotel Aksjemøllen in January 2022.

The name gives associations both to quality and to history from the first half of the nineteenth century.

Our mill workers are your acquaintances – they are happy to help you with recommendations that are just right for you, so that you leave Lillehammer with memories of the best our beautiful city has to offer.”

Converted mill and grain silo from 1863 – opened as a hotel in 1992, and completely renovated in 2021
58 “grain bins” spread over 10 floors
